On 2nd February, Citelum and EDF R&D have launched their new street lighting laboratory at the «EDF Lab Les Renardières» site.
This new test facility allows to recreate the functioning of any street lighting network in the world by operating on lighting equipment and on electrical supply conditions.
Equipped with 30 masts each with a different height, it can incorporate the different lights used in the public space (lamps for pedestrians, roads, stadium) as well as platforms to manage and control urban equipment.
The laboratory also permits to test the energy efficiency of new technologies, to assess their impact on the electrical network and to develop new solutions for a smart, economical and eco-responsible lighting.
Today, street lighting is equivalent to around 40% of cities’ electrical consumption.
