Following the steps of London and Berlin, the Pas-de-Calais Energy French Department Federation (FDE 62) Citelum, Ubitricity and EDF have inaugurated and installed the 3 first charging points connected to the street lighting network in Calais (Hauts-de France), a first in France!
This innovative charging solution requires the installation of a socket on the masts of lighting points to use the street lighting network as a power supply.
To charge their electric vehicles, drivers just have to plug a portable cable in the socket.
Beyond being easy to use, the charging points offer many advantages including a quick deployment as well as reduced installation, maintenance and usage costs compared to other stations.
Thus connected to the already existing lighting equipment, Cities will have access to more locations to install charging points and will be able to open electric mobility more widely to citizens.
